Why Tyler Counts:
Tyler was a fun loving little boy! He loved life in general and was always happy and smiling. He faced a lot in his 22 months, but through it all his spirit was wonderful.
Favorite Hobbies:
Tyler loved Elmo, playing outside, looking at books, playing with cars, going on walks, but most of all Tyler loved playing with his daddy.
Proudest Accomplishment:
Tyler recieved a bone marrow transplant on June 8th, 2005 at Cincinnati Children's Hospital in Ohio. He flew through
the whole process with flying colors.
MPS Heroes:
Dr Stella Davies. She truly cares for all the patients she takes care of and is very knowledgable in her field. I didn't meet one person at Cincinnati Children's Hospital that wasn't kind and helpful in any way. Everyone showed a genuine care for Tyler and did everything they could to do what was best for him.
Words of Wisdom:
"some people come into your life and change your heart forever". Tyler has changed my heart in more ways than I could ever imagine. He was a wonderful, happy and funny little boy. His life is an inspiration to me...everything he went through in such a short amount of time but he ALWAYS had a smile on his precious face. I never thought that by being a part of the MPS world I would have met so many wonderful and supportive people. Everyone stood behind us in every decision we made and cheered Tyler on through every aspect of his transplant process. My heart has forever been changed by MPS...
Personal Diagnosis Experience:
Tyler was diagnosed with MPS-1 on January 14, 2005, the day after his first birthday.

He received Enzyme Replacement Therapy for 12 weeks before undergoing an unrelated Bone Marrow Transplant on June 8, 2005 at Cincinnati Children's Hospital.

Tyler's transplant process went well, and he was released from the hospital to go outpatient on July 5th. We lived in an apartment close to the hospital so we could return for weekly visits. On August 25th, we were released to go home for good!! Tyler continued to do great.

The last week of October Tyler came down with a cold and was admitted into the hospital to be monitored overnight. That one night led into more though...lots of tests were run because his oxygen levels kept decreasing and no one could figure out what was causing this. All the tests kept coming back negative, so they assumed he had pneumonia. But the day before Tyler passed away, test results came back positive for EBV.

On November 1, 2005 at 6:05am Tyler gained his angel wings...he is now in Heaven free of MPS...our perfect little angel!
