Why Joshua Counts:
Joshua was the happiest baby in the world. Even when he was sick in the hospital he was still happy and always smiling. Josh always got sent home from the hospital too early because they thought he was feeling better because he was happy and playing. He always ended up coming right back. He didn't let being sick bring him down.
Favorite Hobbies:
Josh loved to watch Elmo, Teletubbies, BoohBah, and he loved to look at books, do puzzles, and get into everything!!!
Proudest Accomplishment:
Everything that Joshua did was amazing considering
everything that he went through in his life. He learned how to walk right before he turned 18 months old and there was no stopping him. He was into everything!!!!
MPS Heroes:
Dr. Craenan at Columbus Children's Hospital is the most amazing Doctor that we ever had!!!
Words of Wisdom:
Never take anything for granted!!!!! I knew how fragile Josh was and that he could be gone at any second for getting even a little cold. Josh was 21 months old when he passed away from bronchiolitis. I thanked God everyday that I had him. Now I thank God that he chose me to be his mommy and that I got to enjoy him for 21 months. Josh touched everyone's life that he met. I am very thankful that I had Josh for 21 months because he almost died when he was 2 months old because he was born with a rare birth defect called a Pulmonary Artery Sling.
Personal Diagnosis Experience:
Joshua was diagnosed on June 30th 2005. We had never heard of MPS until Josh's doctor thought that he may have a storage disease and we looked up everything that we could about this disease. We were shocked at what we read and all I could do was cry. Josh was diagnosed really quick. The only reason that the doctor suspected anything was because they saw that his liver was enlarged on an x-ray that he had done and she also thought that his face looked like it was changing and that started all the tests to be done.
