Why Jack Counts:
Jack is rarely without a smile. His sense of humor and zest for life is contagious. Jack is a constant reminder of what makes life so precious.
Favorite Hobbies:
Of late, it's Spiderman. What that means is simple.... if there is a way to bring Spiderman into the activity it's his favorite. Jack loves to jump, climb and paint. Most recently he has
taken to singing songs and cooking (as scary as that might sound).
Proudest Accomplishment:
Our proudest accomplishment is listening to Jack sing. Since his speech and hearing are the primary issues we deal with presently it is such a joy to hear him carry a tune.
MPS Heroes:
Dr. Eric Crombez (UCLA) is a blessing. He is always available, communicates the necessary information in a calm manner, is personable, engaging, accessible and in general ...a wonderful human being. We are lucky to have him.
Words of Wisdom:
To the world you might be just one person...but to one person you might just be the world.
Personal Diagnosis Experience:
Jack was diagnosed when he was 18 months old at a time when we were not looking for a diagnosis at all. Jack was undergoing routine surgery for PE tubes and the removal of adenoids when a few "it probably means nothing" observations were made. This led us to a CF test, a CT scan, an allergist, neurologist, pulmonologist, cardiologist, ophthalmologist, multiple urine and blood tests and ultimately an answer on June 24, 2004.
