Home About MPS About The Campaign For Physicians Resources Newsroom
Why Carly Counts:
Carly lives every day to its fullest, serving as a leader and inspiration to all who know her. Whether it’s raising her family’s spirits or taking time to help friends sort out their differences through the “Peer Mediation” program at school, others often find strength in Carly.
Favorite Hobbies:
Spending time with friends, singing in the school chorus, being a Girl Scout, shopping at the American Girl Place in New York City and playing “Tops Soccer,” a handicapped soccer program.
Proudest Accomplishment:
Getting a 90% on her reading test.
MPS Heroes:
Dr. William Mackenzie, Pediatric Orthopedic Surgeon at Dupont Hospital for Children – for doing his best to keep Carly healthy and on her feet so that she can enjoy all that life has to offer. And for signing Carly’s permission slips for cheerleading!
Dr. Shunji Tomatsu, Associate Professor of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the St. Louis School of Medicine – for devoting his life to developing a treatment for children with Morquio syndrome.
Words of Wisdom:
“Don’t even try to stop me!”
