Personal Diagnosis Experience:
When Blaise was two years old he was attending a speech therapist, she referred him to the paediatrician because of his behaviour (she had kept him waiting nearly 2 hours !!), Dr.Lacey the paediatrician luckily knew exactly which blood tests to send off for as there had been a previous patient of his with Sanfilippo and he had recognised the facial symptoms. A couple of weeks later we went for more blood tests and an attempt at a urine sample. Still not knowing what the blood tests were for. Another couple of weeks after that we were called into the hospital, I had told my daughter " It won't be anything to worry about just a chemical imbalance or similar", How wrong I was. My daughter was devastated and cried the whole way through, I wanted to cry but had to be strong for her and listen. Although I made up for that later. At least we were lucky that we didn't have to go through mounds of tests until finding the right diagnosis.
